The Faroese Symphony Orchestra at Harpa

The Faroese Symphony Orchestra recently came to Reykjavik as part of their 30th Anniversary Atlantic Tour and gave a free performance at Harpa. They opened with a modern work (Sunnleif Rasmussen: Veitsla -premiere) that ended with every musician popping the balloons you see tied to their chairs and music stands! They followed that with some Tchaikovsky and Edward Elgar’s “Variations on an Original Theme (Enigma), Op.36” It was a delightful performance, and my first time inside Harpa, which has quite a striking interior.
