Samaris’s Eerie New Video for “Ég vildi fegin verða”

Samaris "Ég vildi fegin verða"

Samaris is one of my favorite Icelandic bands (along with Jófríður’s other band, Pascal Pinon) . I was mesmerized by their first ep as I counted down the months before moving here. In November, I was able to see them perform off-venue during the Iceland Airwaves music festival, and they didn’t disappoint. Their new video is eerie and surreal, a perfect visual to their unique sound. Enjoy!

“‘Ég vildi fegin verða’ melds vocalist Jófríður Ákadóttir’s airy vox singing lyrics culled from nineteenth century Icelandic poems over the brooding beats of Þórður Kári Steinþórsson, aka Doddi, and Áslaug Rún Magnúsdóttir’s ambient wind work. Silkidrangar, the trio’s new album, is out on May 5th via One Little Indian.” [via]
