Old West Side, Reykjavik || Part Two

Old West Side- Reykjavik, Iceland

Old West Side- Reykjavik, IcelandI think Old West Side has become one of my favorite places to wander in Reykjavik. It’s a bit removed from downtown, so you usually only see locals walking around. On a sunny weekend afternoon, it almost feels like walking into a different time….everything slows down in this charming residential area. Young parents take their babies out for a walks in ornate prams (Icelanders treat the baby carriage like a full blown fashion accessory), older residents tidy up their little yards, the air is clean, and the streets are quiet. It also has some of the most beautiful old houses in the city.

  1. I’m so jealous! I totally want to move to Iceland after visiting there last month, so pretty and laid back! The Old West Side was one of my favourite parts 🙂

  2. I know this is an old post, but taking a chance…we are considering booking an Airbnb there, but don’t feel like having a car in the city. Are there restaurants, nightlife we can walk to in that area? And is downtown walkwable (say, 15-20 minutes of walking)? Thanks so much!

    • There’s no need to have a car in the city. You can walk everywhere. Depending on where you are in Vestubær, you can probably walk to the center of town in 10-20 minutes. I would just put it into Google.
