We took it easy on Friday, and stayed close to town. An hour walk took us along the edge of the fjord to Hnífsdalur. From there we spent about two and half hours getting up and down the mountain that divides the towns of Hnífsdalur and Ísafjörður. The day was sunny, and the views were fantastic.
The bottom of the Ísafjörður side was covered with these beautiful blue/ purple flowers. Sadly, we learned yesterday that they are an invasive species, introduced to Vík on the south coast to stop erosion but now out of control and harming the native flora.
