We drove along Rauðasandur until the road ended at a beautiful little, black church with a stone courtyard wall and lambs playing on the lush grass around it.

I loved that black church! Actually found the beach a bit of a letdown and have lots more photos of the church.
Haha I kindof agree. All the descriptions insist that is is red….but it is no such thing. We saw it at a beautiful time of day, so it was definitely worth the visit, but the serene spot at the end was the best part. I think it would have been a better visit if it wasn’t so hyped up as this spectacular site.
Yes! Couldn’t agree more, especially given the amount of effort to get there.
