ÍS: Driving to Dettifoss

The road to Dettifoss leaves the Ring Road in a rather barren part of northern Iceland and winds through cracked mounds of hardened lava for about 20km with the occasional sheep grazing by the side of the road and snow capped mountains off on the horizon. It’s quite beautiful, and the silence if you stop and turn off your car is very powerful.

  1. Hannah- Your splendid photos are part of my memories of my visits to Iceland in the last year. My trips were in late Spring and early Summer. I’ve missed out on Iceland at night! Even in late April, it seemed the sky only darkened to indigo. It’s occurred to me that you may have some shots of Life in the darkness of Iceland. If you do, I’d love to see them.
